05/26/2017 - Congratulations Congregant of the Year - Michael Goldin

Congregant of the Year

Michael Goldin and his wife, Naomi, moved to West Windsor in 1978 and have two children. Steven and his family live in London. Their daughter, Jennifer, and her husband reside in Long Island City. Michael and Naomi became members of the Jewish Center shortly after arriving, making them members for some 37 years. Both their children were Bar/Bat Mitzvah-ed at the Jewish Center.

Michael received his Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering from City University of New York. His area of specialty was in polymer and materials science. He worked for major chemical companies where he held positions in research, market development and sales. After leaving the corporate world, he started his own business supplying specialty chemicals to compounders.
Michael and Naomi also started a local retail business, which they ran for 17 years, until the role of being long distance, grandparents became a higher priority.
His involvement in the Jewish Center really began when he started attending Bible BaBoker with Rabbi Annie Tucker. After she left, Michael continued its Torah study as Administrator of Bible BaBoker, which he will elaborate on shortly. He also serves on the committee to put together the program for Shavuot Learning Night. Michael has been honored with giving several D’var Torahs during the Congregant D’var Torah, summer program. When a call was put out to create new Havurah groups at the Jewish Center some years back, Michael and Naomi were one of the founding members to create one, which is active today. Their Havurah presents Jewish or Israeli-themed programs at each meeting.
Michael and Naomi will be celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. They will celebrate with a trip to the Outer Banks, NC, with their children and granddaughter, as this is a place they visited often as new parents. Later they will go on a land-sea trip to Alaska.
