The period of post-biblical Judaism is exceedingly rich archaeological evidence, both in the land of Israel and in the ever growing Diaspora.
This lecture series moves through time and space with the goal of synthesing the archaeological data with the literary evidence (Philo, Josephus, Mishna, etc.). Through this effort, we will reveal the richness of Jewish life in late antiquity, both before the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in 70 c.e.and after that disasterous event.
