Tichon - The Jewish Center’s Hebrew High School & Teen Programming

It is our goal at The Jewish Center to offer teen programming that promotes Jewish commitment through outstanding religious, educational, social, and community building programs.  We have been successful in achieving these goals through programs like: the Hebrew High School education program (Tichon and Tichon Ve’od), the Madrichim program (teacher assistants in the Religious School), the Siyyum Tichon 10th grade community service trip, and TJC’s teen youth group programs.

Our clergy and staff are always developing and researching new ideas that will engage our teens and offer them new, relevant Jewish experiences.  Tichon, the Jewish Center’s Hebrew High School, is an experience that makes an everlasting imprint on our teens’ Jewish identities.

About Tichon
Tichon, The Jewish Center’s High School program, is an exciting Jewish journey in a teen’s life.  The program is divided into two sections, Tichon (8th-10th grade) and Tichon Ve’od (11th-12th grade), which provide our students with meaningful Jewish experiences.  Our outstanding programming and innovative learning opportunities create a lively and engaging setting for Jewish teenagers to feel comfortable and to explore what Judaism and Jewishness means to them.

Tichon is divided into three trimesters, each with a new Core Course led by a different instructor.  Core Courses are taught by grade and offer Jewish topics to which teens can relate.  Many of the core courses and programs are new each year.

With a dynamic faculty, including our clergy, the 2nd Period offers a variety of informal sessions that help students connect with each other, Jewish tradition, and their synagogue.  Jewish identity, expressions, and holidays are the general theme of the 2nd period sessions.  It allows the students to participate in a broad spectrum of creative programming, while ensuring they have ample time for socializing.
