This summer I read Michael Oren's new book Ally: My Journey Across the American-Israeli Divide. It's a fascinating account of his years as Israeli Ambassador to the US, and in particular I paid close attention to his writing about the talks with Iran over the years.

The beginning of summer brings the opportunity to regroup, retool, and relax. The change in weather invites a change in routine, and this month's niggun is an invitation to rejoice and revel in this change.

In the Torah Reading for this Shabbat, we have the instructions for wearing the Tallit. As I teach this mitzvah to our young people, I remind them that it is the one mitzvah that directly connects to all the others.

This weekend is the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the Triple Crown of horse racing, one of the greatest achievements in sports and something that has not been done since the 1970's.
