The Gil Gordon Congregant of the Year Award recognizes extraordinary volunteer service to TJC.

The legacy of our beloved Gil Gordon (zikaron l’vracha) is one of commitment, menschkeit, leadership and exemplary service.

This year’s committee was chaired by Linda Meisel, and it included Martha Friedman, Bob Lebeau, Suzanne Esterman, Louise Sandburg, and Joel Berger.

Nominees must have demonstrated devoted volunteer service to the congregation for three or more years, beyond any official roles such as Board positions. While Board members may be eligible, their nomination must reflect contributions outside of their Board duties. TJC employees and paid service providers are not eligible, except for employees working fewer than 12 hours a week. A strong nominee will have made ongoing, multifaceted contributions—not just a single, even highly successful, effort. The award recognizes sustained, meaningful volunteerism, not financial impact or personal donations.

It is with great pleasure we recognize Clive Usiskin as “The Gil Gordon Congregant of the Year.”

Clive Usiskin has been a devoted and hands-on volunteer in the TJC garden, where he regularly tends to vegetables and flowers—often on a near-daily basis during the growing season. Beyond his own work, Clive actively engages with other TJC volunteers, guiding and working alongside them to help the garden thrive. The fruits of this labor—fresh vegetables—are generously donated to local food pantries, making a meaningful impact on the broader community through Clive’s dedication and leadership.
